PDS Wiki

2 comments:

  1. I had never created a wiki. The only time I had used one was Wikipedia, which I knew could be edited by users. Other than that I was not sure how to create one or edit one. I learned a lot about not only how to make and use a wiki, but what it is and why it is important.

Making the wiki was fun. Colin Kirk and I met together and put all our ideas together. We created and edited all of our pages. We came up with a template to use as well. It was good to interact with the group and discuss our PDS. We learned a lot about our PDS.

Two things I have learned about wikis are that people can work and create them together as a team. I thought that perhaps only one person could work on a wiki at a time, but we all worked on them together, on separate computers, at the same time. Another thing I learned was in order to make a wiki was the importance it could have to a PDS. The PDS has many people working in it and this wiki really describes it. We talked about the administrators, coordinator faculty and staff in our wiki. It is important for the community to be able to see this. I feel as though our wiki had a lot of important information about our school.

  2. Dave,

I'm really glad I got to take a look at your wiki. It was interesting to see how another group handled the assignment. I noticed a lot of similarities in our wikis. We both included an "About Us" page which was my favorite part. It makes the wiki more personalized and lets everyone see who we are and what we are doing in the schools. Including pictures was great, too, since administrators probably still get us all mixed up. At Suncrest all of the participants are girls, so the names can get confusing.

One thing we did not include in our wiki that would be a great addition to any wiki is the History of a PDS. Although we had the definition, it was really neat to see why a PDS was developed, who developed it, etc. It's always good to see where we are coming from and see how much things have changed from the beginning.

After reading your post, I think that we both had good experiences creating the wiki. I learned a lot about Suncrest Middle throughout the process and had a chance to get to know my other Seals participants better. I can tell that you learned a lot about Bridgeport and all of the people involved with making Bridgeport a great school.
